Mineral Resources & Energy Group

The Mineral Resources and Energy Business Group includes investment, trading and marketing activities of non-ferrous metals, petroleum and carbon products, including precious metals, base metals, crude oil and natural gas. Unconventional energy sources are increasingly being sought out and SCOA is actively participating in shale gas development in North America.

SCOA’s Non-Ferrous Metal Business is comprised partly from activities in the company’s ownership stake in SC Minerals America Inc.(a joint investment with SC).

In addition, SCOA has an investment in Summit Mining International Inc. (“SUMI”),  a human resource provider with deep expertise in the mining business. SUMI was established in 2009 to support the operation of a silver, zinc and lead mine project in San Cristobal, Bolivia, that is wholly-owned by Sumitomo Corporation (“SC”). By utitlizing the expertise of SUMI, SCOA plans to invest in, develop and manage quality mineral asset and expand its participation in the mining industry’s value chain together with SC.
